MY HENNA STORY
I have been a henna Artist for over 25 years, alongside other work that I do my Henna art provides such happiness and beauty to share with others, especially during summertime at community events

HOW DID IT START ?
I was originally introduced to henna and learned about the art of Henna in Derby City at a community event at a Hindu Temple, after sharing my dance with the ladies one of the Hindu ladies asked would I like food which was delicious and then after would I like Henna, absolutely yes please so I was adorned with Henna and sat with the ladies as it dried on my skin. It’s beautiful pattern staining for many weeks. I was mesmerised and loved the entire process, soon after luckily i found a course and trained at Chesterfield College as a 'Henna 'Mehendi' Artist' with an asian instructor.
as I was teaching Bellydance in the community and sharing my henna art with the ladies in my classthe natural progression with my henna art style was to research near, far and Middle Eastern Henna styles which I intensively studied for many years all styles of Henna art from Egyptian to Moroccan, Persian to Turkish and all in between.
Its use dates back well over 5000 years, with ancestral art styles deeply ingrained in cultural beauty from the country of origin, the patterns were so unique, entwined with local customs religion and celebration, each countries reasons why the designs were born were different. I was absolutely hooked. I soon learned that the origins and birth of Henna we’re actually rooted deep in ancient Egypt and from this long history the moguls took henna to India many centuries ago, Henna art use spread through trade roots into every part of the near far and Middle East where it is used extensively where the Lawsonia inermis Henna planet grows, I found out that Hannah was used as an antifungal application hence why in a lot of culture the nails and fingertips were Hennaed as well as animals such as horses to care for the skin and coats, the earliest findings of Henna were in tombs of Ramses II with henna staining found on his hair

My journey with henna
started out as a community henna artist when I first started sharing her henna art at my dance class with the ladies who attended this allowed us to connect laugh relax and have fun dawning our bodies with sacred body art
I started to offer Henna Art at events and festivals as well as multicultural weddings, especially English, Hindu and alternative or contemporary weddings I even had at hand fasting and Pagan weddings.

Where I am now
I now teach people how to Henna online and in person and also offer my services as a henna artist offering many styles of Henna, with my favourite designs still being Near Far and Middle Eastern Henna, especially Moroccan and Ancient Tribal / Egyptian as well as contemporary Henna art designs with a spiritual flair. Over the years I have enjoyed offering henna art at contemporary weddings offering individual art to the guests and Bride and love re-creating this wonderful traditional art into a modern phenomenon that it is!
I always ensure that I work in a cultural appropriated way, with awareness of the origins of the designs and ensuring any client is aware of its origins and meaning.
I also love to share theHistory and Culture of Henna and loves to share this knowledge within my Training Sessions.

I Have combined the art of Henna together with Oracle readings for quite some time now I find this flow together brings back its ancient magic and power even more so when combined with Ancient Symbols that adorn a body of Light. I offer and also teach Henna Oracle to anyone who would like to learn how to do this amazing art and share it either with your friends and family or as a profession I have training for every level including mentoring through to a professional diploma certificate course
I alsooffer 'Henna Oracle' at parties and events
I find that henna Oracle ties in withancient Healing techniques and Symbols, as an energy healer and Reiki practitioner this is an excellent wayto assist energy healing together with the use of Henna Application on the body, Cara also teaches Henna Oracle to others
THE PROPERTIES OF HENNA
Henna is cooling to the skin as well as deeply conditioning, it’s stain can protect the skin from fungal infections and bacterial infections. It has a beautiful smell and when mixed with aromatherapy oils such as eucalyptus or lavender it is a delight to apply henna of course stains anything, skin hair or nails and has been used for centuries to do just that it stains from an orange to reddish brown to dark brown depending on the paste and origin of the henna powder used. The actual henna powder is a very beautiful Henna green colour almost a sage green. The flowers of the Henna plant Are also used in perfumes and attars, the flowers are small, delicate and white. The properties of henna include.

I have offered this unique art of 'Belly Blessings' with Henna for over 20 years. This wonderful art of connecting with the Mother to Be and providing sacred symbolic Art for both the mother and babys well-journey is always a privelage and offers a unique 'ceremony' to the Mother before the Birth of her baby to honour her physical body and decorate her baby-bump' with love, sealing in the beauty and fertility of her body as she grows with her child

HENNA CLIENT BOOKINGS INFO

WHAT IS HENNA?
Henna is a natural paste which when applied to the skin stains the top 'dead' layer of the skin. It is made from the ground leaves of the Henna plant (Lawsonia Innermis), water, small quantities of tea (the tannin in the tea helps the henna stain darker) and small quantities of essential oils such as close and eucalyptus give the henna paste the most beautiful herbal aroma
WHAT COLOUR IS HENNA?
Natural henna comes in only one colour, BROWN (or variations such as a reddy brown) . There is NO SUCH THING as safe 'Black henna' which contains nasty chemicals (PPD) which can cause nasty reactions.
WHAT IS WHITE HENNA?
White henna is AWESOME! It is NOT henna, white henna is a MICA PASTE (made from fine white mica powder and gel) white henna is an immediate wash off, unfortunately due to trials using white henna we do not offer this service as the lasting results are poor
IS HENNA SAFE?
Natural henna is totally safe and is a skin conditioner which improves the softness and condition of the skin. It has been used for thousands of years as a skin and hair conditioner. All Henna cones and skin dyes used at WiseRoots Henna services are 100% safe and PPD (chemical) free
HOW LONG DOES HENNA LAST?
A henna stain usually lasts 5-15 days. The design will gradually wear off as the top dead layers of skin flake off. Once the henna stain is on your skin it is very hard to remove.
note: skin dye such as Golecha dyes darker quicker and wears off faster (usually 2-3 days) if you require a stain that doesnt last as long as natural henna
At Wiseroots Henna we use 3 Skin Dyes:
(1) HAND MADE HENNA PASTE
(2) KAJAL NATURAL HENNA
and
(3) BURGUNDY SKIN DYE
all are safe and PPD chemical free
