to care for your teeth, starting with the foundations of a healthy diet and lifestyle is essential , your teeth are connected to every organ in your body as well as are affected by hormones and overall general health
1 - Good Nutrition
The strength of your teeth and gums starts with having the right diet, it is proven that indigenous tribes that eat a totally sugar free natural diet have strong healthy teeth with no cavities.
Also a Natural diet provides the right oral habitat for a healthy mouth microbiome. Natural live enzymes and “good” bacteria help prevent tartar build-up, if you have bad breath, Yellow teeth or Sore bleeding gums you really need to rectify your diet and avoid the following foods:
convenience / packet foods
high sugar food, especially fruit juice which is heat treated and as high sugar as soft drinks!
soft mushy processed foods such as breads, biscuits and other carb flour based foods
to sssist tooth health eat foods rich in natural complex fibres which help ‘naturally clean’ teeth when eating especially vegetables.
What herbs are good for healing gums?
gums are organic tissue and they have the ability to heal, here is a list of helpful herbs for gum healing
YARROW promotes healing of sore gums and mouth sores, use as a rinse or in tincture form
SAGE makes an excellent Mouthwash
MYRRH Myrrh is antibacterial so it kills the harmful oral bacteria that comes from plaque build up.
CALENDULA makes a great rinse and is very soothing and healing.
ECHINACEA Helps your immune system
PROPOLIS Propolis (bee glue) is execrlkrnt to put over areas where you have issues with teeth
EUCALYPTUS OIL is very effective at healing gums
ALOE VERA gel is very soothing and a great base for gels
TURMERIC gel or oil is very effective anti inflammatory
PEPPERMINT ESSENTIAL OIL is soothing and healing
2 - Remineralise your teeth with Bone Broth
Make bone broth several times a week. It’s chock-full of minerals that really help strengthen teeth and gums. You can use oxtail, chicken simmer for a few hours, some say 6 hours at least, or for the fastest bone broth fish bones are quickest at only 30 minutes cooking time. RECIPE use whole bone fish, add vegetables, simmer 30 mins, strain and drink. save veggies and fish for patties and frittata etc. you can freeze the stock in cubes to eat regularly

3 - Clean & remineralise teeth daily
Clean daily, brush gently, use a soft toothbrush brush carefully over gums, over-brushing teeth can cause gum recession
Use a good toothpaste. I personally prefer to avoid fluoride (do your own research here). here are some of my favorite DIY toothpaste recipes, all strengthen teeth and help prevent gum disease
DIY COCONUT OIL & CALENDULA TOOTHPASTE
use plain MCT
1-3 Tbsp MCT oil
1 Tbsp (or less) baking soda
calendula oil or tincture 1tsp
optional 1 drop peppermint, tea tree. myrrh or neem oil
Coconut oil and Calendula are antibacterial, soothing and excellent for gums, brush with this as you would tooth paste
Calendula promotes healing of the skin, helps gingivitis and reduces dental plaque
DIY CALENDULA MOUTH WASH
dilute 1 part calendula tincture to 3 parts water and use as a mouth rinse, you can also use calendula tea or infusion as a mouthwash

calendula flowers
DIY REMINERALISING TOOTH PASTE
This remineralizing paste is easy to make. It helps strengthen teeth and help prevent or repair any cavities. eggshells made up of are 95% calcium carbonate, The remaining 5% features hundreds of different proteins. calcium carbonate is what dentists recommend to remineralise teeth
You’ll need
calcium or bone powder, or 1/4 cup ground eggshells OR calc carb powder (1/4 cup) OR calc carb tissue salt pillules crushed (40 pillules)
one drop of peppermint essential oil
1-3 Tbsp coconut oil or MCT oil
1 Tbsp (or less) baking soda
optional calendula oil or tincture
How to make with egg shells:
Rinse the eggshells and bake in the oven for 20 minutes at 200c (it will smell faintly like ‘burning hair!)

Finely grind the eggshells in a coffee grinder or by hand in a pestle mortar, make sure the powder is very fine
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl
Store in a small jar
apply the toothpaste daily to your teeth, use as regular toothpaste. note: be especially careful to not over brush with coconut oil, and be aware the eggshell powder will have a slightly gritty consistency and ‘may be abrasive’ so go very gentle! if the paste is too abrasive, you can use this as a paste to apply onto your teeth to remineralise. if the grittiness will be an issue you can substitute the eggshells and purchase super fine calc carb powder or crush calc carb tissue salts into the mixture instead

4 - Probiotics
Probiotics help create a healthy bacterial environment in your mouth boosting oral microbiome. One specific beneficial strain probiotic L.Reuteri has beneficial attributes for the mouth healthy bacteria building biome, having benefits to protect t teeth and gums. Building this good bacteria helps control bad bacteria that can cause gum disease, plaque and tartar on teeth. Researchers at Canada’s Laval University found that “… probiotics could be useful in preventing and treating oral infections, including dental caries, periodontal disease and halitosis.”
take a daily probiotic supplement
eat probiotic foods such as live yogurt, kefir, kombucha, saurkraut etc in your diet daily
bathe your mouth in beneficial probiotic bacteria, you can use sauerkraut juice as a ‘bath’ and bathe your mouth with the liquid
5 - stay hydrated
drinking more water essential to good tooth care. f you are dehydrated your teeth will suffer as you will produce less saliva which helps digest food and remove plaque from the surface of the teeth when chewing
6 - Homeopathic Remedies To Remineralise & help Repair Teeth
HOMEOPATHIC REMEDY TO REPAIR TEETH
in natural dentistry these homeopathic remedies take the place of cavity fillings, the remineralise your teeth and also dogs / animal teeth too
calc carb 6X
calcarea phosphorica 6X
calcarea fluorocarbon 6X
take this for at least 1 month
TIP: allow pillules to melt in mouth and hold saliva in mouth for 5 minutes to bathe teeth before swallowing . you can also make a tincture by adding pillules to alcohol base and dropping onto teeth you want to reminrkerslise

7 - how can i heal my gums?
treating gum disease or mouth inflammation, sores or ulcers at home. Some of the suggestions that can work well are:
OZONATED OIL
is oil infused with ozone until it takes on a thick gel like consistency. Ozone Oil has powerful antibacterial properties and has been shown to promote healing and helps remove plaque and manage gum infections, and a great tooth infection home treatment. sunflower ozonated oil is the strongest as it holds the most ozone, from least to most powerful: coconut oil is the weakest ozonated oil, followed by jojoba ozonated oil then olive ozonated oil
apply on teeth and gums.
Ozonated oil Works by releasing oxygen to kill pathogens (anti bacterial and antifungal, virucidal) activating production of cells and promoting successful healing:
applying topical to assist with healing, skin inflammation irritation, sores, ulcers, bacterial fungal infection, eliminate pathogens or use as a neat toothpaste
OZONATED WATER
Buy an ozone maker and create your own ozonated water, use this as a mouth wash to rinse your mouth (ok to be ingested)
BEE PROPOLIS
Bee propolis is an amazing tincture to have at hand and is safe to use orally, it is highly antibacterial and healing, concentrated and sticky, like a resin. Bees use it to patch their hives.
HOW TO USE
use it to patch over areas of teeth that require protection . apply to inflammation or abscess, or use it to cover an exposed root or for swollen gum treatment too.
TIP: let the tooth dry before applying the tincture. This will help it to stay on much longer. bPurchase this with 10% discount from Indigo Herbs using my Practitioner code CARAINDIGO
Note: be warned that bee propolis can cause skin and tooth discolouration
COLLOIDAL SILVER
is exceptionally good natural antibiotic which you can use topically or internally, i use 10ppm either in dropper or spray bottle as well as internally to help fight infection
SALT WATER
You can’t beat a salt water rinse for inflammation, post surgery healing etc. rinse 2-3 times a day,
instructions: boil water and add a teaspoon of additive free sea salt or himalayan salt, note: Salt water can help to remove the plaque and bacteria from your teeth and gums, however, do not over rinse with salt as it can cause the salt to damage the enamel on your teeth.
ALOE VERA
is a wonderful topical soothing healer for the gums
