This blog will cover the basics of creating home herbal infusions, with many uses such as
hot tea infusion
cold infusion
topical infusion
spray infusion
bathing infusion
herbal inhalation

Choose organic herbs where possible, dried ot fresh are equally as good, you may require less dried herbs and slightly more fresh for infusions, here are the basic instructions, have fun!
HOT INFUSION
here are hot infusion instructions, read through, gather equipment and you are ready to start
equipment: be quality pan such as food grade stainless steel, spoon, strainer, filtered or spring water, a towel, your cup with cover and your herbs (dried or fresh)
the general rule of thumb is: Use 1 cup/mug of just boiled water to 2-3 teaspoonfuls or 1 tablespoon of herb (always follow instructions on the herb blend packet)
Add in to the boiled water
Leave to infuse for 5-15 minutes depending on instructions and preference
strain (again your choice)
Drink: usually you can drink 2-3 times a day for desired effects
additions: you may want to sweeten or flavour herbal blends further for instance, with honey or lemon etc .
you can also drink a hot infusion when cold for full medicinal benefits
always keep infusion covered especially when hot to keep the medicinal plant benefits within the infused water
store in fridge
effects: warming, especially good in fall and winter

COLD INFUSION
Some herbs require a cold infusion, especially if the medicinal components of the a plant may be compromised by heat or you prefer a ‘raw infusion’
here are full instructions:
Place 1-2tbspn of chopped herb in cold filtered or spring water
pour into a sterile glass vessel such as a cup, jar or bottle and cover with a lid (if storing ensure your glass is kitchen safe such as borosilicate glass that is lead or cadmium free)
leave for 1 hour
strain
add any extras such as lemon or honey to taste
drink neat or mix in with fresh fruit juice
store in fridge
effects: cooling, especially good in summer

HOW LONG CAN I STORE AN INFUSION?
i recommend all fresh produce is best used and consumed within 24 hours, according to ayurveda principles, for the most richest ‘food pranic benefits’, once an item is prepared once usezeiyhin 24 hours, after this period it may develop ‘negative prana’ and will begin to loose its fragile nutrients and healing properties if left too long.
Regular storage: You can use for up to 3 days or freeze to use in an ice tray
